PressOn Adapters

KONTRON ELEKTRONIK announces an innovative adaptation solution for emulators with its new PressOn technology. This new PressOn technology eliminates the disadvantages of current clip-over adapters. With the new PressOn technology, contacting the CPU pins is no longer achieved through metallic contacts, as in current clip-over technology, but through multiple vertically-aligned conductive strips in a rubber contact block.
This new rubber block is placed from above onto the shoulders of the CPU pins and secured in place using a threaded bolt temporarily glued on the top of the CPU. Despite this very solid mechanical and electrical connection, the KONTRON ELEKTRONIK PressOn adapter only needs 1-2 mm space around the CPU, an excellent feature advantage, especially when working on high-density boards. Another advantage of the PressOn adapters is the fact the emulated CPU can remain in place on the target board. This allows boards to be taken directly from the production line for use in the development program without creating specially modified evaluation boards.
The new PressOn adaptation technology is currently available for the SQFP208, TQFP176 and MQFP144 packages. Other packages will be supported when introduced.
